Immigrant stereotype?
I’m form Ukraine, a country in Eastern Europe which most people refer to as Russia. I have a pretty heavy accent so it’s easy to tell that i’m not American. However, we aren’t immigrants(my parents bought a house here but are going to sell it in a few years and move back), we live in a wealthy suburb and aren’t communist. So why every time I meet someone new they look amused that I live in calabasas and that it’s not the first time I see a mercedes, etc. it just bothers me how people automatically think that I am a poor girl from Russia, who has never seen gum and doesn’t know what an ipod is!!!! does anyone know why that happens and if it just me?

Because the majority of Americans believe whatever they see on TV. I’m pretty sure you are not Communist, and you don’t worship Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Lenin.
