Do I have any cheaper options?
Ok I have a 2005 Mercedes C-230 kompressor that I just bought about 5 months ago. Well turns out I will need brakes (front brakes) pretty soon here (about 25% left) so my local Mercedes certified garage quoted me a price of $680 bucks (!)
So my question is, is it really necessary to have them do or could I get a better price else where. I want to make sure my car is of course well taken care of…but I would like to save if I can especially if it is not absolutely necessary that i pay that much. So please be honest with me, I do not know much about cars and I really need some good advice on this one? Any advice anyone?

That is an absurd price!!! You are getting ripped off BIG TIME. Shop around for better prices. From experience, I know that MB brake pads from Axxis (which are better and made in Australia) are around $60 a set. Any competent brake shop can install them. Hopefully, you do not need new rotors. This is more expensive, but not THAT much. If you catch it soon enough, your rotors will not even have to be lathed. Just remove the old pads, and install new ones. The only reason to “cut” the rotors is if you are getting a vibration. Axxis pads are better because they leave your wheels clean, and last just as long as the OEM pads. Good Luck!!!
