How do you change the coolant hose on a mercedes 190e 2.6 1988?
I have taken off the air filter under which there is a short elbow coolant hose going from the cylinder head to under the oil filter (oil coolant?) which has perished, I can get to the block end but not the other. Do I have to get the engine taken apart just to replace a pipe? Please help

On a lot of engines, and most Mercedes, there is what is normally called an “oil filter adapter” on other cars. (I don’t know what Mercedes calls it.)
If you remove your oil filter, you should be able to see where this part bolts to the block. I think if you remove it, you should be able to get to the end of this hose.
